“Navigating the Grant Writing Maze”- Dr. Vitor Mendes, Senior Research Associate, Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge
Vitor will talk about his personal perspective on the first steps of the grant seeking processing, understanding the various funding options, and funding sources available at different career stages. He will further explore some of the common errors, and best practices in grant writing.
“Way Forward to UK Industry from Academia”- Carla F. Bento, PhD, Associate Director, Astex Pharmaceuticals
Carla trained as a cellular and molecular biologist and specialised in neurodegeneration. After completing a 6-year postdoctoral research program at the University of Cambridge, Carla moved to Astex Pharmaceuticals where she holds leading roles in neuroscience drug discovery programs. Carla will share her career journey and the motivations that fuelled the transition from academia to industry. She will debunk myths about moving to industry and discuss important considerations when exploring industry opportunities.
