Academic Event (in person): “Conversation with Prof. Amit Agrawal”
June 9 at 19:00 - 20:00 BST
“In Conversation with Trinity Fellow & PhaseShift Co-founder – Prof. Amit Agrawal: Optics, Academic Life and Entrepreneurial Ventures”
Amit Agrawal is an Associate Professor of Optical Engineering at the University of Cambridge, and a Fellow and Director of Studies at Trinity College.
He received an M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah, followed by a postdoc at NIST, where he worked in the areas of nanophotonics and terahertz optoelectronics. He then joined Syracuse University as an Assistant Professor, followed by Staff Scientist/Physicist roles at NIST and the US Army Research Laboratory.
At Cambridge, his group works in the areas of ultrafast optics, nonlinear optics, nanofabrication and integrated photonics. His research work in the last few years has primarily focused on developing integrated nanophotonic technologies to scale and miniaturize quantum systems based on trapped atoms and ions for applications in quantum sensing and computing. Over the years, Amit has collaborated closely with industrial, academic and govt. partners, his research has been cited >7600 times (h-index of 46) with papers in reputed journals including Nature and Science, is granted >10 patents, and received competitive awards from Optica, SPIE and IEEE.
He is also the co-founder, PhaseShift Technologies, that aims to provide scalable, foundry manufacturable photonic solutions to the quantum, sensing and display industry. ”
